Not only are soybeans bountiful in iron, B vitamins, calcium, and zinc, they possess the only vegetable-based protein that is "complete", containing all the essential amino acids found in animal-based proteins. However, like all plant foods and unlike many meat and milk proteins, soybeans are cholesterol-free.
In fact, more than 50 studies show that the protein in soybeans can actually help decrease the risk of heart disease by reducing blood levels of LDL ("bad") cholesterol.
