Established in 1955, Dahlgren & Company, Inc. began in the planting seed business. After entering the birdseed industry, Dahlgren evolved into one of the first edible sunflower processing companies in the United States focusing on quality sunflower products for the snack food, bakery and food-ingredient industries.
In the early 1990's, Dahlgren added roasting and packaging operations for its sunflower products granting Dahlgren & Company, Inc. its position as the nation's only fully-integrated sunflower facility. In 1999, roasting and packaging facilities were also added to handle the production of Soynuts (Roasted Soybeans) adding to Dahlgren's capacity for supplying quality snack products.
Dahlgren has built an extensive farmer network through which the company directly contracts the type of sunflowers needed to meet the world's growing demand. Soybeans especially suited for roasting are also purchased locally, the majority of which are identity-preserved. Having close contact with both the farmers and the various stages of processing gives us the ability to certify that all of our products are Non-GMO (Non-Genetically Modified), and contracted product can be traced directly back to the farmer.
Over the years, it has proved paramount for Dahlgren to maintain quality control as a top priority. Given the outstanding performance of our Quality Systems program, Dahlgren & Company, Inc. has consistently earned "Superior" ratings by AIB, and we have received top audit ratings from major international food companies.
